Goo News & Reviews
USITT Annual Conference and Stage Expo 2006, Louisville, Kentucky
The United States Institute for Theatre Technology held its 46th annual conference and stage expo from March 30th to April 1st and Goo was there! Our good friends and sales partners from Rose Brand made a very special Screen Goo screen one of the focal points of their (as always!) exceptional booth. The screen in question was made from Gatorfoam, cut in the shape of the (dear to our hearts!) Goo splash logo and rolled with Ultra Grey topcoat and Digital Grey basecoat by Rose Brand's Mary-Katherine Vandiver and Renee Hughes (thanks MK and Renee!). Employing cutting edge Arkaos VJ 3.5 software running on a Panorama Digital Scenery media server, Rose Brand's Jeff Brown projected multiple overlays of video content in the shape of the screen! How cool is that? Well, judging from the reaction of showgoers, extremely cool! Veteran, and student soon-to-be, theatrical and staging professionals alike were unanimous in their praise of the setup and the possibilities that it illustrated. Expect to see more digital video scenery projected on Screen Goo on a stage near you soon.
All in all, this was a really great show. It was a treat seeing familiar faces from last fall's LDI show, and especially gratifying to have the opportunity to meet and talk shop with all of the theatre students in attendance. Judging from the level of discourse, theatre goers have much to look forward to from the imagination and creativity of the next generation of theatrical professionals.
Special thanks to everyone at Rose Brand for all of their great work in promoting Goo Systems and for the opportunity to be a part of the show.
Thanks also to USITT for putting on a great Expo. Hope to see you all in Phoenix next year.
